The thought occured to me today while reading about the young whipper-snappers 'Kinesis' who are again reinventing the Manic's, Clash and Radiohead for this millenium. Having seen them live i can say that they are pretty cool and being m/c English boys are nicer than a knitted bobblehat, but can we really leave political activism in the hands of a loads of cosseted rich boys? No, i don't think so, we should be listening to ADF and reading about 3rd world problems (such as incriminating aid organisations for extending suffering) instead instead of mumbling about call centres and the 'vapidity'of Western society.

That said, my revolutionary fervour (none, actually) has been going into my studies, music is entertainment, like SG, like films, like everything else called culture, sure you can read meanings into it, but seeing as its primary function is to be a pivot around which human interaction is based (fans meeting other fans, commonality) shouldn't we be looking further a field for for influences in the intellectual, political and sociological sense.

Yeah, i'm old and tired, and seeing as the political liturgy of my youth was completely self-obsessive and little more than a means to understanding how my own thoughts functioned (MSP, Magazine, Pistols, Clash, ADF, RATM, etc)then maybe i'm a bit bias.

Was that a rant or just stream of conciousness? I can't tell.

Ah, i see you're familiar with the drinking holes of Cheltenham!
I had actually forgotten about the two pigs and the fish - they're not worth mentioning! I don't normally associate them with the word "rock" anyways!
Thanks for the good luck with the car - it seems to have payed off! I am now the proud owner of a spangly silver Micra. Yay! love
