ok I'm pretty stoked right now...
Last week I signed up for a dating agency type thing (hey - I'm 30, single, and in a new town - sue me), and added a few possibilities/hopes to my "favourites" list on the site.
Well I got messaged today by the cutest girl I've seen on the site (she has a photo up with the most fantastic smile) saying I sounded "nice" and we should chat
I should probably say that it's not just the cuteness - the profiles on the site are pretty basic, but as far as they go we seemed pretty good.
I know it's random and more than likely it won't go anywhere, but still...right now I feel pretty good

I considered being all cynical about it in a "protect myself from emotional harm" kind of way...
Then I thought fuck it. I'm stoked about it right now and I'm just going to enjoy that. If I'm riding for a fall (which as you say is likely), then I'll take the fall. Time to let the romantic side be in ascension for a bit - cynical's always there to fall back on.
Meantime we have "a date" next Friday
