Some days, more than others, I feel acutely the weight of the tyrranical beauty possessed by women beyond reach.
I was reading Kingdom Come today...again. In case you are unaware, this is a story set in a possible future of the DC universe where the great heroes have all retreated from the world, leaving the new generation of superheroes, hardly worth looking up to, fighting a chaotic, pointless, and endless battle amongst one another. Superman was the first to go because the human race...

Yeah, me too. I don't understand all the layers and lengths bullshit. I just know how I want it. Maybe I should draw them a diagram next time.
Maybe I should read Kingdom Come. It only occurred to me the other day how much I could be capable of if I just tried instead of assuming I wasn't good enough.

Your words mean so much, thank you.
I wonder how they determine how long is long enough in school. For most cases, it seems to be about 3-4 years. Think about it. Elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and grad school all take that amount of time. I wonder if that is how long they figure it takes to become proficient enough to move on, or if it is just the...

Ugh, college has taken me five years. I've transferred between so many colleges, and so many units were lost. At first I didn't mind, but now I'm feeling so burned out.
I did feel that Silent Hill disclosed a lot of information, but I didn't mind that so much. My question is, what happened with Rose and her daughter that seemed to trap them in an alternate demension? I kept trying to figure out why her husband could sense her when they seemed to occupy a similar space, yet they were having completely different experiences (he's walking down an abandoned hallway, she running from some demon down a dark, decaying hallway). What are your thoughts on it?

I was having a bit of a hard time earlier tonight. At first I was worried that I was overcome with aggression, maybe rage, but that was not it. It was more like a simmering bitterness deep within my gut. I felt maliciously and egocentrically bitter about so many things, things like that there are other men on the face of this earth who dare...

I'm glad that entry ended well!
Also, my comic: not so secret anymore.

I still believe that reality is what we make of it. I believe that we choose what we see. A wise person once said that madness was merely choosing a different perception. Your last statement is indicative of the tao. Embrace that and let the nihilism slip away.
I have completely given up on Satanism once and for all. For a time I wandered back to it every now and then whenever I wasn't feeling gratified enough by my life, and found a lot of amusement in the more macabre elements found therein, but last night I read something on the subject by a scholar I have a lot of respect for. Jeffrey...

Your comic sounds exciting.
I feel sick went up to at least 3 issues? I only have the first one from that series, and I think that I have the complete JTHM and Squee series. Hmmmm.

I have had a recently rekindled interest in the works of H.P. Lovecraft and the mythos he created in his time. This probably has a great deal to do with the incredibly awesome board game I got not too long ago, Arkham Horror, which is based on the Cthulu Mythos. So far I've dug up two annotated collections of stories and an H.P. Lovecraft lexicon...

I found the unspeakable horrors of H.P. Lovecraft at 19 and have been a willing fellow under the thrall of his prose. I have every piece of fiction he's ever written, but I have none of his collected books of letters. Ironically, by most accounts, his most famous work is his letters to his friends that have been collected into several volumes by the publishing house that Derleth and others founded after his death. It pays to be wary while reading books labeled with the Lovecraft name. Derleth put out a lot of garbage that he wrote with H.P.'s name on the cover.
Before we can have another Renaissance, there needs to be a twenty-first century version of the Black Plague. I'm all for thinning the herd and moving on. Nihilism is a monster? It's a matter of perspective. A little death, destruction and mayhem coupled with a loss of civilized "comforts" would do wonders for perspective...

I thought working two nine hour days over Easter weekend would suck, but so far it hasn't been that bad. Yesterday while I was at work I read 6 volumes of Hellboy, and two volumes of BPRD. I also read about thirty pages of Jeffrey B. Russell's The History of Witchcraft, which I am forever trying to finish. I played three card games with...

I swear, Im moving to the bible belt one day as a masked crusader of liberalisim. And then I will recieve burning crosses on my lawn. But really, I never understood the logic in that. you are burning YOUR OWN religious symbol. If I torched it you would call it an irreligious act of blasphemy...
anyway,
have you read strangers in paradise? this (and some johnen vasquez) is the only comic I'm ultra in love with. Be it I havent read many others. *droooool*

I am intrigued by how people seem to treasure things the most when they are about to lose them.

Hello.
I haven't been on this site for while, so I thought I'd drop by to say hi.
Speaking from personal experience, it's best to just say how you feel and get some sort of answer, than to keep it in and wonder what would have happened had you taken the chance. Yes, it sucks that graduation is coming up, but why not try to make the best of what little time you have?

I find it so curious how I whisper out into this abyss, and sometimes it whispers back.
kundalini:
Abyss is not empty, but are you sure it is not a faint echo?

befriend the abyss, maybe she'll tell you wonderful things....

I decided to write my paper on the various reoccuring nightmares I've had throughout my life. It ended up being a sort of combination of a literary memoir and a cultural critique. I wrote it in such a way that it treated the world of my dreams as just another place that could be visited. It isn't the best thing I've ever written, but I...

If that's the way you feel about it, it sounds like a fine rough draft.

That's why it's so damn important to fall for a mind, not a cute ass, although if the two are connected, well great. Hopefully one lasts a little longer than the other, but neither is guaranteed forever.
