Mitsuwa Market is gone. Little Tokyo Galleria Market opens today.
Sometimes I just don't like change. I was very sad to see Mitsuwa Market leave Little Tokyo. Since then, I've driven to the Mitsuwa Markets in Torrance & San Gabriel to get my Japanese groceries. Marukai in L.T. is ok but not huge and I don't like the parking there.
Little Tokyo Galleria Market opened it's doors today in the spot that was Mitsuwa. It's ok. I was very pleased to see the sushi counter still in the same place and stocked with the same sushi! They sell a lot more Korean items (since the store is Korean owned). It seems that most of the employees are Korean. I kinda miss the staff thanking me in Japanese "arigatou gozaimasu."
Oh well, it's not Mitsuwa but it's not bad. I'm just glad that a market opened this quickly and the space isn't sitting vacant.
Also, the freezers weren't working and the meat counter was not stocked, so don't go there trying to buy any of that stuff yet.

morningstar:
Well its better than nothing. We went to the Nijiya market on Sawtell the other day. Its bigger than the one in little Tokyo and stocks a lot of what Mitsuwa had. We even went over to the Mitsuwa on Venice but for some reason that one doesn't do anything for me. How's the Saki selection at the new market? Looks like I might have to make a trip over there tomorrow.
