jury duty completed!!
i love this new one day of service/one trial policy that california has now. the last three times i had jury duty i didn't even have to go in at all, because they never called my group and i was excused before the end of the week. this time, i wasn't so lucky. they called my group the first day.
i got to sleep in an hour yesterday, because i normally wake up at 5AM for work. i rolled into the courthouse parking lot at 8AM and found a parking space right away. when i got into the jury room, the place was packed. i found a spot at a table at the front of the room and then i saw the prettiest girl i've seen all year. she had tattoos, redish/brown hair with bettie page bangs and was dressed kinda 50's looking. she actually had a bit of a resemblance to Hopey. she sat down in a chair in the corner of the room. i began thinking of ways to talk to her.
a few minutes later, a guy comes out and tells us all of the stuff we need to know for the day. he was really funny too. then he told us we could go outside or to the cafateria. thus...the waiting began. i sort of followed that girl out to the patio, but she was reading and i worry about bugging people who are reading. i was then quickly cornered by this guy who told me his life story...and it lasted the...entire...day.
one group of people were called to a courtroom just before lunch. i wasn't one of them. and right after lunch, they were all sent back to the jury room because the case had been settled. we did some more waiting. i did some more not talking to the hot girl. mostly because i waited too long and was now terrified. this always happens.
then we got the announcement that we were all free to go. i was home before 3PM.
not too bad. at least it's all over with. i hope i run into that girl again though.
