Let the bitching begin. If you thought the last entry was whiney, this one's going to be flat out belligerent. You've been warned.
I spent the shittiest night in possibly the last decade, playing DD for four people on Fat Tuesday, and two of them proceeded to make complete fools of themselves.
One of my good friends just got back from spending a year serving ni Iraq and was using that to try and get chicks to show him their tits. That disgusts didn't bother me too much until he kept harassing them over it if they said no. He finally had one girl in tears.
I had enough and finally got his drunk ass out the door, then he (and the other guy that was with us) got pissed off that the cops (who were there to make sure the place emptied out after last call) wouldn't shake his hand when he asked them to. He went off about this "I just got back from defending this country and they won't shake my hand," rant. The both of them nearly got arrested and I was prepared to let them.
Now I think a lot of him and what he did, and I support our troops completely, but NO cop, and I mean NO cop in his right mind, is going to accept that kind of request from a drunk staggaring out of a bar, and I don't blame them.
Now these two want me to run something on the news at the station I work for about how the Columbia PD "mistreated a vet" and shit. They should be fucking thankful they didn't get arrested for anything, the way they confronted the cops over it.
All in all it was a completely shitty night for me. Mom was pissed at me that I got back so late to pick up my daughter, and I could wind up losing those two friends, who (since you can't tell from above) actually are good guys at least 80% of the time.
But, if they decide to be bullheaded over this situation, there's nothing I can do. I do not agree with their perception that the cops somehow disrespected him, and I'm not about to jeopardize my job over it. In the end I'm just completely pissed off.
This year is really starting off to look like it's going to be 12 shitty months.
