Well August 20th turned out to be quite a day. First off, it was the day that Hunter Thompson's ashes were rocketed into the stratosphere out of his 153 foot high Gonzo fist monument and spread across his property in Colorado. I just wish that they had made it a public event so that I could have been in attendance. It's alright though, I'm just glad the man got his wish. Good show, old man wink

Also, it was Dimebag's birthday today. So even though he's no longer with us, I want to say Happy Birthday to Dime. Wish you were still here man....along with Hunter biggrin

And on the subject of metal stars, it was also Ozzfest here in San Bernardino. Which, if you ask any of the bands that have been on the tour will tell you is the biggest and sickest stop on the tour. The 909 represents like none other. I'm gonna keep this short though since I'm fucking exhausted, so here's a quick rundown:

- Missed Arch Enemy frown

- Black Dahlia Murder, As I Lay Dying, and Killswitch Engage rocked my fucking world.

- Ran into CiderX. Good to see you man biggrin

- Rob Zombie put on one of the best performances I've seen him do in a long time.

- During Zombie I got in the pit and almost died. For those of you that have never attended Ozzfest here in San Bernardino, let me fill you in real quick. The area around the 2nd stage doesn't really have any grass. There's some dried up dead grass on the ground and a lot of dirt. So when pits start up, this debris flys into the air and into our lungs. So if you don't have a mask or something to breath through over your face, your lung capacity depleets and I could not breath. I staggered out of the pit and almost passed out a few times before I just happened to run into my brother. I told him to watch me for a minute and just collapsed on the ground trying to catch my breath. I was alright though, just needed a few minutes. Plus the fact that I didn't eat anything all day might have had something to do with it.

- Also, Mastadon kicked ass

- Mudvayne was good and Slipknot did a special appearance only at this stop and put on a pretty good show as well. But I think they work better on a small stage, as does Mudvayne

- Fell in love with this girl out on the lawn that had this big furry red hat. She looked like a cross between Vanessa and Christina ScabbiaMy God.....

- Iron Maiden had a rough night. They were pelted with eggs, their PA cut out completely 3 or 4 times, and they played longer than they were supposed to so I guy came out on stage with a mic chanting, "Ozzy! Ozzy!" until they left. Then Sharon came out and called Bruce Dickenson a "prick" and said ever since he started the tour he's disrespected the Ozzfest tradition and family. On another note though, Bruce told somebody, "I shit on you...From a great fucking height." I thought that was one of the greatest things I've ever heard, so I'm gonna use it now whenever possible.

- Sabbath was nothing but class, as always wink

Another thing, I wish they would let me bring in a video camera one year. I would love to film the people walking out of the 2nd stage area. It looks like some ancient battlefield, the ground completely decimated and thousands of beaten and tired warriors trudging up the hillside still glad to be alive. These people come out looking half dead, either exhausted and fatigued or still half crazed from the adrenaline. All of them filthy. Covered in dirt, dust, grass, blood, sweat, beer, spit, water, mud, and grime. Some bleeding freely from open wounds. Broken nose, busted lip, a cut over the eye where a well placed boot kicked them when they went down in the pit. And all of this in the 100+ degree summer weather. This is the epitome of Ozzfest. Modern day warriors.....

And that's about it. I need sleep now. See you all tomarrow....
