"Standing...in the shower...thinking"

First of all, thanks to everyone who took time to comment on my recent moment of catharsis. It's comforting to know I'm in the company of other thinking, feeling humans. I'm constantly amazed at the kindness of strangers. Well, to paraphrase an old song, you're now the strangers I call friends.

It rained tonight. Heavily. As I was driving home from *insert bad corporate chain bar*, giant fingers of lightning slapped the sky and ripped open a gaping wound that gushed forth an unholy torrent of water. I was literally forced roadside due to the blinding downpour. I imagined the experience was roughly akin to driving through God's carwash.

When I arrived home, an idea struck me. I climbed slowly from the car, sauntered into the yard and just stood there. As the sky flickered vibrantly and the storm unleashed its electrical cacophony upon the night air, I stood there taking a liquid beating. It felt great!

I watched the lightning crack the sky and felt the vibrations of the thunder's low rumble while the storm completely drenched me. I couldn't help but recognize the symbolic quality of the moment, but that's really irrelevant.

Truth is...I had a blast! I was reminded of those times as a kid growing up in Arizona where one of those August monsoons would rip through our neighborhood. My sister and I would immediately grab our bikes and hit the pavement. We'd be soaked to the bone in minutes flat, grinning like idiots the entire time.

Anyway, the moral of the story is that there isn't always a moral to the story. Sometimes, you just need to stand out in the rain and get soaked to your underwear for the sheer hell of it. It's important in life to act like a complete fucking jackass whenever you have a chance. There are plenty of opportunities each day to "be professional". Why do it on your own time? Fuck that. Growing up doesn't necessarily have to mean being a "grown-up".

To borrow from Heston, you can have my immaturity when you pry it from my cold, dead psyche. biggrin

...and now, for these commercial messages...

I'd like to take a moment to strongly urge everyone to check out the latest album by Placebo
"Sleeping with Ghosts". It's absolutely fucking brilliant. Word.

Hey, thanks for rallying support for me during these dog days! I am at home and trying to be calm after all the mess. Anyway, I need to check out that Placebo album. BTW, what is Water and Solutions?

I've gone for several long walks in the rain the past few days, but nothing like what you enjoyed. Lovely. kiss
