Welp, I just became the latest casualty in the current bust that the oil and gas industry is experiencing. It's not all bad though, in a way I see it as being set free. When I applied to work at my now former job I never really intended for it to turn into the nearly 10 year journey that it turned out to be. I was a recent college grad, was struggling to find work as was the case for many graduates in 2012. Long story short is that between my student loan lenders wanting their money and being on the verge of going to war with my parents after moving back in with them I said fuck it and took what I'd planned on being a source of some quick easy cash to help with the move once I found a job in the IT field out in either Dallas/Fort Worth or Austin, Tx. Didn't really turn out that way though. I found a home with a great company, a piss easy high paying job that I could do in my sleep with both hands tied behind my back, and a more than solid group of guys who have grown to become like family. Gonna miss the shit out of working with those dudes, but such is life. When one door closes another one opens and I've been set free. It's fine, it really is. I'd already gotten my apprentice electrician's license as back up and now I have an excuse to leave Midland, Tx for good. Don't know where I'll end up, south east Tennessee sounds nice. Seems like a peaceful place and I like the mountains. Don't really care for metro areas anymore but Austin would be fine as well. All I know is that until this COVID-19 crisis settles down and things start opening up so that I can actually look is that I'll be doing a whole lot of fishing.
