The little gray colored guy curled up next to the fat orange one is Thom. Thom is new to the household, two full days actually, and I noticed that he has fleas, which brings us to the here and now. Tomorrow is gut check time. The evening I brought little dude home from work (my boss adopted him out to me) a coworker was holding him and stated that he has fleas. I didn't see any myself and disregarded the claim. Turns out he was right. Sooooooooo anyway, the internet said he too young/small for a flea collar which would have been the simplest of solutions but the collar could apparently kill him. I didn't want that on my conscience so the alternative was a flea bath. It looked easy enough so I gave it a try. Have any of you ever tried giving a kitten a bath? Here's my suggestion. DON'T!!!!!! I got my hands mauled for my trouble, he took a long plunge off the kitchen counter when I let go of him, and he slashed me up worse when my mid-air snatch and grab rescue attempt saved him. Plus he still has fleas. Fuck's sake! Gonna give it one more go tomorrow. This time with rubber gloves. Might give the vet a call tomorrow see if they can offer suggestions or even okay him to wear a flea collar. Fingers crossed. If I STILL find them on him after the second bath he might have to go back. The kitties have become fast friends and I like the little guy, but I'm not going to mess around with a flea infestation. I know there's plenty of cat people around here and maybe some of you have dealt with this? I'm stubborn and absolutely hate throwing in the towel by I'm leaning heavily towards making the people adopted Thom out to me deal with this crap while I find a new kitten.
