My new job is hella boring. Especially since I am training still. I have no idea what the hell is going on with the night audit. They print almost an entire reem of paper EVERY night, and most of the reports will never see the light of day again once put into folders and stored away. It really makes me feel guilty.
I have yet to actually do any audit related tasks. I have just gotten to watch the other person 'training' me do everything. Even worse is they don't explain a thing that they are doing. Three people get this random report, and these two get this report that is between this thing and that...
But the boredom I can handle, even without a TV
What really disturbs me is the little reminders that I am still in a small town that is still backwards in its ways. Case in point, Racism. It isn't just the older people, it is younger people too.
Tonight the older security guard mentioned some black men he saw. He was asking the person who works the shift before me who they were with/ what room they were in. They were in a comp room because they were with the (white) person who is in charge of the food and beverage. When the security guard was told that they were the man's family he was dumb founded and disgusted.
He said if they were his family, he would move out of the country. I did not acknowledge the man and walked away. Then later tonight he made it a point to tell the person training me the same thing.
It all just makes me sick. My 'adopted' family is of many different colors, and hearing shit like that just... wow. It amazes me that people can still think that way. To be so fearful of someone because they are different.
I know this kind of thing still goes on, but it still.... wow.
Besides the whole racist thing, my night is going ok. less than half my shift left. I just want some sleep. The weather outside is GREAT. In the teens out, and little wind. My favorite kind of weather.
