Spiders: Not so great, actually.
Especially pink toed tarantulas.
The thing about tarantulas is, they're mostly slow. They stay on the ground. For which reason I tend to find them far less disconcerting than other spiders despite their size. So imagine my horror at discovering the species of extremely speedy tarantula with sticky anti-gravity toes and a good two-foot jump span. Imagine my further horror when transplanting one into a cage today went terribly wrong and ended in an hour-long standoff between three people and one boingy arachnid who refused to return to the confines of her cage.
I actually screamed at one point. I don't DO that. I don't freak out about living creatures. I adore bugs. I have my childhood spider creepies under control. Until a spider the size of my hand turns out to not be bound by the laws of gravity. Or the laws of going away from me when I make loud noises.
Creepy little fucker.

I went to find a picture of one to put here. And I found out that these guys are apparrently not bound by ANY of the rules of spider biology: Here's one swimming!
