Today's Theme: Money, Red Tape, and Other Forms of Bullshit

Blah. Had another doctor's appointment today. And another on Friday. And another next week. I'm so sick of this bullshit. Seriously. The fighting with the insurance company, the having to jump through hoops I've already jumped through, the fucking red tape. Its almost worse than being sick. Isn't that sad? I'm having a hard time understanding why I pay out the ass for medical insurance and still get out of control medical bills. I went to get a new Rx filled the other day and the pharmacist laughed at me. "Your insurance won't cover this... the most they would cover is 12 pills." 12 pills?! That's only four days of a medication that I was to take 3x daily, everyday. I just cannot afford a $30 copay every 4 days. Did I mention my copays just went up? AHHHHHH! I'm so fucking sick of how twisted American health care has become.

Speaking of fucking over the American people....

Today, while I was waiting for the doctor, I was flipping through an issue of Time magazine and came across an article entitled "Poverty Reaches the Suburbs". According to the article, a family of FOUR would need to make $20k or less a year to qualify for government assistance. A family of four?? $20k?? I don't know how anyone could live on that. That's $5k per person, per year. Oh my fucking Christ. Apparently, the people who make these decisions don't go to the grocery store or buy gas. A gallon of milk is supposed to reach $5 a gallon by the end of the year.

And speaking of the grocery store...

I finally made it to the grocery store today. As I have mentioned before, I am cheap as hell when it comes to general consumer products. When I look at most products at the store, I see .25 worth of food product wrapped in several dollars worth of land fill fodder, character licensing, and advertising (the side effect of growing up with a father who worked in the packaging industry). Not to mention, most prepared foods are chock full of crap. But today I won a small battle against consumerism. I'm a hardcore coupon clipper. And today, my receipt was only 40% of what it would have been without. Take that grocery bitches!

And speaking of bitches...

I can't tell you how happy I was this morning to wake up and hear that Alberto Gonzales resigned. Fucker. I'm hoping this starts some sort of domino effect. I really want to see Bush and Cheney go down. Gonzo was the first line of defense for protecting the White House, and now that he's gone... let the circus begin!

And speaking of the circus...

I want to run away and join one. Still.
