The Good

- FINALLY saw the new Harry Potter movie. Loved it - my movie companion, not so much. But he is a damn commie.

- The new issue of Craft Magazine came out today, and you'll find e positive designs (me) on the second (?) to last page in the Etsy feature. It's small, but I'll take it.

- I sold my "Zombie Gnome Scratching His Nuts" which pleases me

- My birthday is coming up... better start your shopping wink

- Have I mentioned that my neighbor rocks? Thank cheeses that he brought me that A/C unit. This week's heat has been breaking all sorts of records, and I'm inside enjoying the frosty coolness. I feel like the Queen of Sheba. He's a cop... did I mention that? My neighbor that is. I don't know if I can say I'm a fan of police overall, but the cops in my small town are rad.

The Bad

- Along with finding out that my friend Michelle has cancer this week, my friend's husband died on Saturday. A week before, he was diagnosed with "walking pneumonia", sent home to recoup and now he's dead. 36 years old. I'm in fucking shock. Why are so many young people becoming seriously ill?

- I have a bum tooth. I need to go to the dentist. And dentists are right up there with chickens, clowns and heights as things I very much dislike and/or fear. I would rather eat fake cold radioactive scrambled eggs than go to the dentist. (and yes, I've eaten fake cold radioactive scrambled eggs.)

The Ugly

- My computer is dying. Beyond my repair abilities, I'm afraid. If it dies completely, I am going to be a sad, sad doobie. Aside from missing all you lovelies, I can't do any business without a computer. Right now, I'm trucking along, but I don't know how long my 'puter can hang in there. If I disappear for an unusual amount of time, that's why.

- I'm postponing my trip to Chicago. Which I'm bummed out about, but there are just too many things that need my attention here right now. I'm thinking of going now maybe for my birthday or Halloween.

- I'm really behind on catching up on people's journals/comments/pen pal letters/etc. I know - I'm a lame ass. But I love you all and will do so as soon as my brain stops exploding.

- I dyed my hair. I don't know if it qualifies to be under "ugly", but I'm not sure if I like it. It came out REALLY dark. Maybe I'm just not used to it. If my go-puter lets me, maybe I'll post a picture and get some second opinions.

For right now, that's all. love you, miss you,
A.

Why I chose Cincinnati specifically.....the Reds have been my favorite team for almost twenty years. But as for why I am moving...I just needed a new place. I moved down here in 96 and should have only been here for about three or four years while I finished my degree. Instead here I am almost 11 years later and I am just now getting out. I've been in a rut for a bit and it's time to shake myself out of that. I figured a new town would do that. Since I am not going to Grad school any time soon, I didn't have any real reason to prefer one city over another. So, I went with the place where I could get an apartment within walking distance of my favorite baseball team's stadium.

I've been to Cincinnati three times now. I haven't spent a ton of time downtown. Is it really that bad? I've heard it's not the most happening downtown ever. Considering I've been living in a town of only 70,000 people, it's got to be a step up.

Oh, and I don't know anyone. Part of what I was looking for was a fresh, new start where I didn't know anyone. I crossed Chicago and Detroit off my list because I know people there. That left me with St. Louis, Louisville, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati as far as what can I afford to move to, how big is the city and do I know anyone.....at that point I had to choose Cincy.

I'm 30....I don't really want to be surrounded by a bunch of Frat kids.

The fact that you know who Emma the Lunchline Lady is makes me happy.
