so the only job I have right now I apparently am not doing too well at. Both kids I'm tutoring are doing sucky in their respective subjects.

Yeah, time to go back to the old high school and meet with teachers about these kids. I don't mean any offense to them because they're really not but I hope I don't have dumb kids when I grow old. Really, I'd much rather put effort into supporting them than hauling my ass to school to meet with their teachers every ten weeks to find out what I already know is the truth. Really, there are only two ways to not do well in high school. Either kids don't get it or they don't try.

And I keep asking myself, what's this one girl ever going to do with the geometry I'm helping her with now or the Earth Science I helped her with over the summer? If she does to college she's either goint to be a communications major, a dental hygentist or something that leads her to social work. And there's nothing wrong with those things, it's just where this girl is headed. I can feel it. So does she need to know that low pressure systems rotate counterclockwise, symmetrical triangle have congruent angles or that there are three types of rocks ? Nope.

me: "I'm tutoring two kids in earth science this summer and I have not touched the subject in...eight years."

chris: "well, you just have to remember that there are three types of rock..."

me: "yeah?"

chris: "yeah. you've got your type one..."

me: "yeah."

chris: "...type two and type three."

me: "what about the sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous?"

chris: "you've got those too. like I said, just remember that there are six types of rock."

chris kicks ass.

But like any good star trek, I'm positive you'll gain control and turn off the self-destruct just in the nick of time
