I'm putting up my xmas tree today. I haven't quite decide the color theme for this year yet. I have a white tree and last years theme was black and silver. I may stick with that but and some red this year. I'll see when I get it up.

I bought a brand new scanner, copier, printer yesterday at the Goodwill store for $7. It...

It's the fisrt day of the last month of the year 2006. And I am not feeling the season.

I want someone to bring me some hot and sour soup! But I don't think I could keep it down. I've not felt right since the great weekend binge and now I've got some sorta sickness. Yay for me!

It's too warm here in Florida for...

As you can see from my journal there was a big snow storm that came through the area, so it's been colder than usual. It was as low as 27 when I came back to Portland, and there were a few days of "snow showers" which is kind of lame. Would've preferred real snow.

Supposedly the average low at night is 35 degrees, I knew that coming in. It's 45 and sunny right now, which is considerably better than it has been.

Also, not nearly as much rain as everyone told me there'd be. I was expecting seven months of torrential nonstop downpour, that I'd have to buy a sun lamp and travel south every few weeks to stay sane. It's complete bull, we get way more rain in Miami and almost as many days of precipitation (138 to 154).

I think it's just the Californians that complain; I was surprised to find most major California cities get only about a foot of rain annually, over the course of just a month. They live in a fucking desert.

One weird thing though, it's almost always night time for me now. For example, sunset today is 4:28 pm. Sunrise tomorrow is 7:28 am.

I usually work late and sleep in, which means by the time I wake up I may only get a couple hours of daytime before it's night again. Not that I mind really, I'm a computer nerd and a night owl, so night's fine by me. It's just...weird.

Alternatively, when I moved here in July, I left the airport at about 5:30 pm, and arrived in Portland at 10:30 pm, and the sun had not yet set. With the time difference, it actually felt like almost 2 in the morning to me, and yet I could still see the sun over the horizon.

Over the course of the summer it stayed that way; the sun wouldn't set until at least 10 at night. And it was often in the 90s, occasionally as high as 105 degrees, and my apartment has no air conditioning (most don't). So I had to wait, and wait, and wait for the sun to set so I could cool down. Ironically at night it got down into the 60s.

One would think it'd be nicer the other way around, short days in the summer, long ones in the winter. But then again I guess many people would prefer having long days during the "nice" weather.

I think I'm having a "midlife crisis" It's seems the various sides of me are at odds with each other and I've no idea just who I am anymore or who I really want to be. I'm a ball of confusion.

I had a friend years ago that would sit at his piano and sing this song to me. He's dead now, like so many...
