Moira
Perhaps you already know she's not only an SG but also a vegan.
This set may have clued you in
She's been vegan for about four years. There was no magic moment for her, like some people have that brings them to the choice of becoming vegan.
For Moira It was research. She had a friend who was vegan and she wanted to know what it was all about. Her friend gave her a copy of Why Vegan: the Ethics of Eating & the Need for Change
(Heretic Book) by Kath Clements and with every page she read she became more and more convinced that a vegan diet is the most reasonable and healthy way of living.
Living where she does makes shopping no problem at all since the UK is more and more vegan friendly each year. Plus according to her "most restaurants offer vegan alternatives or are happy to make a non-vegan dish vegan if you ask".
When I asked her "what was the hardest thing for you about becoming a vegan", she explained it as,
"The mockery of others. It made me realize even more how ignorant most people are and it still pretty much kills the conversation sometimes when I meet new people and they find out that I am vegan and are completely drug-free on top of that."
Lucky for Moira, her mother has been vegetarian almost her entire life stemming from witnessing a pig being slaughtered when she was six years old, so she's very supportive of her being a vegan.
Sadly, the rest of her family still think she's "completely mental" for living the way she does
and will still grill her about the "whys and wherefores" of veganism at every family get together.
At one time Moira did volunteer work for an animal liberation group and found the experience very valuable. She's proud of having been involved in animal activism. She's also very happy she got to be part of the latest Anti-fur Campaign

She's a huge fan of of the hardcore/punk band Refused. Who are known for there vegan and straight edge stances.
And the lead singer, Dennis Lyxzen, has always been a "great inspiration".
When it comes to food she admits she "could have avocado all day long, the same goes for tofu in every variation". Her boyfriend almostfamous does all the cooking though since he's "so much better at it"! Though he's not a vegan himself, he is "the best
vegan chef" Moira knows.
One of the worse things about being vegan for Moira is "people's stupidity and rudeness" that make it hard sometimes.
But she feels the best thing is certainly knowing she's "doing the right thing" and the her body thanks her for it. She says her metabolism and general health is so much better than before she was vegan and she's convinced of the positive effects of a vegan diet for women especially during menopause.

Interesting and informational. I couldn't live vegan, I've tried to go vegetarian but I'm weak. I do what I can for the environment, and sadly that is better than a lot of my peers.
