OK I've had enough already and that's so sad.
What have a had enough of? Christmas stupidity. Not so much Christmas itself but everything it has become.
It all started, of course, when the store's were selling Xmas stuff when Halloween hadn't even come yet! Then I watch 2 1/2 hours of TV this past Friday during which a was assulted by one commercial after another telling me how I needed to buy all this crap to have the best Christmas ever!
And if that wasn't enough the local station's news program kept advertising how 'sexual predators' are being hired as electrictions, plumbers, cable installers, etc. and are coming into your home! OK what ever happened to paying your debt to society and becoming a productive member of the community? Not to mention they made it sound like these 'predators' were all rapist and child molesters. Oh, then they were telling us to stay tuned to take their 'stranger danger' test!
That was it. I couldn't take anymore stupidity! I don't have cable since I really hardly ever watch TV but I do have a 'rabbit ear' antenna which I removed from my TV and gave to my son. I will not watch TV again until Xmas is over and even then I might not bother.
So I spent the past two days watching movies, listening to music and making scarves and candles. Not just any candles, mind you, I made hand dipped candlesticks.
I now have 2 new scarves and over 3 dozen candles and I've barely made a dent in all the wax I've been saving for the past few years but I'm closed to being out of yarn.
Oh I also had a brilliant idea last night. I'm so sick of seeing people decorating for X-mas when Thanksgiving is barely over. So, I think there should be a city ordinance that keeps outside decorations from being put up until December 1. There's simply no reason for putting them up before then not to mention how much it would save on electric use!
I don't dislike Christmas. In fact I'm planning to have a very merry little Christmas myself. I'm making all the gifts I plan on giving, I'm thinking about helping out at one of our local nursing homes visiting with the elderly that have no one, I'm planning on a feast of a meal for big day and I might even end the year with a nice little New Years party!
I just can't stand what Christmas has become. It's just so very sad.
