Human bodies, in pictures

At one time, I backed quite a few projects on Kickstarter, mostly things involving miniature painting. I've bought every color of the rainbow, at least twice, but there's always room for another tube of paint. :D I have also bought some interesting books.
SKIN by Holy Crow Press

I'm planning to write about this one now, the book itself is beautiful with really high artistic value. I only have the digital version, but it's almost as good as the real thing, almost…

I love photography and beautiful pictures, especially of people. There are so many wonderful things in the world, but maybe I can be a little biased with our reflection. Not going to lie, though, an important consideration for me in buying this book was that it had some people in it whose photos I would look at any time. Stoya's smile and laughter is the life itself, I love it. Although she smiles less often in these photos, she is still a joy to look at. Arya Fae is another person I could watch for hours at any time. And the other special people I just met were a series of stunning surprises

On the other hand, of course, the book is about our relationship with our bodies, something I hadn't really considered before. But after reading the book, I did reflect on my story. When I was a child, I got very fat at a relatively young age, mainly for emotional reasons. After I got kicked out of high school, I hit rock bottom. Emotionally, it was a rollercoaster, but in terms of my weight, it was a crest.

Six months later, I started working, then went to night school. Thereafter, I had to lose weight. I lost fifty-five kilos (I think this is 121 lbs) in six months, which was good for my long-term health. But not so much for my skin, and years later I even had plastic surgery. They fixed my stomach, gave me a nice new belly button. :D Today, years later, although my weight is perfectly fine, I exercise regularly, and I'm in excellent shape, I'm still not happy with what I see in the mirror.

I think the mere fact that these thoughts have been triggered by the book, that I am writing these lines, shows something. It shows how much these books and art albums can mean. So, I can only recommend it to everyone.
