Here's to promises that die
Here's to all the nights we've said our last goodbyes
As we burned another day off all our lives
Here's to memories that will fade
Like the photographs that scream of better days

So many memories. I've always said I live by no regrets, but on nights like tonight where the past comes crowding in and the lines between what's real and what isn't blur I wonder just how ambitious that is. There is nothing I would change, because everything I have done has brought me here, and so I know to continue I just have to trust and stay true to myself. But, oh but, there are some big decisions coming up....and tonight I just want to pretend I am a child again, safe at home, tucked up in bed being read a story.

I write these blogs on the back of reciepts, bank statements or shopping lists as I walk around town. My mind forgets simple words all to quickly.

I love the things that cameras don't, can't, catch; the gradual shift in light changing the shadows, changing the shape of things, adding depth, creating monsters, the movement of the sand towards the sea and the way it dissolves into the air just before it reaches the waves, wisp by wisp, the murmur of the sea against the background noise of the city, the way your surroundings fade as you stare out towards the horizon...

The clouds resembled dragons taking flight over valencia tonight, the light of the sunset their flaming breath bathing the city in a fire of deep orange, golden yellow and rose pink. It's nights like this when the wind plays with the wave crests until they spit white foam that make me glad to be alive.

I have watched the entire lord of the rings trillogy on DVD and when I walked out of my room I half expected to find myself transported back to New Zealand, only a New Zealand filled with elves, orcs and hobbits..The only problem with escapism is the inevitable regression to real life. Still, I love watching those movies. Sometimes just to say "I've been there, I've seen that, I've walked that path."

Nothing is making sense, and this disjointed writing is playing havoc with my perfectionist sentiments. Onto the pictures, you people are responsible for my facebook folders being full.

High time we made a stand and shook up the views of the common man
