I know I’ve been banging on about – sorry, not banging on, I mean informing in a gentle and fair way – all the different flavours of feminism, without I hope showing any bias, even against Marxist wankers and eco-feminist shitegibbons, but here’s another way of looking at it; Nikkie’s Four Kinds of Feminism, a non-provocative and balanced view of modern feminism (or rather feminists). The four kinds are:
· Female feminists who don’t despise men
· Female feminists who despise men
· Non-female feminists who don’t despise men
· Me (and maybe a few other non-female feminists who despise men)
· That’s it – I said four, remember?
Female feminists who don’t despise men – this is the majority of feminists. They believe in equality between, at a minimum, men and women. Some may specifically include non-binary people. They desire (though go about achieving it in many different ways) a culture in which this equality is the norm.
Female feminists who despise men – this is a minority of feminists. They too believe in equality between, at a minimum, men and women. Many will specifically exclude non-binary people they regard as men. They too desire (though go about achieving it in many different ways) a culture in which this equality is the norm. Warning to men: please don’t try to tell them that they’ll like you because you’re different, that you don’t much like men either, as a knee in the bollocks can really, really hurt.
Non-female feminists who don’t despise men – Just about all non-female feminists, though still a minority of feminists. They generally believe in equality between people of all gender identities, though some male feminists might not. They again desire (though go about achieving it in many different ways) a culture in which this equality is the norm.
Me (and maybe a few other non-female - especially non-binary but basically identifying as female like me - feminists who despise men) – this is a minority of one (or maybe a few more). I – I mean we – believe in equality between people of all gender identities, including men, but with the proviso that those men so included – at least before the establishment of a society in which this equality is achieved – are for the most part scum. I – I mean we – desire (ideally through violent revolution, and great pain for men) a culture in which this equality is the norm (at which point men are OK, on at least an intellectual level). Warning to men: please don’t try to tell me – I mean us – that we’ll like you because you’re different, that you don’t much like men either, as a 12 bore¹ deer slug to the back of the head can really, really hurt, albeit very briefly (they won’t let us buy humane killers (captive bolt pistols), can’t for the life of me think why).
And that’s all you (especially non-feminists) really need to know about feminism, I think.
