i am at the mercy of my parent's pity. but i don't really need any right now. it's still snowy and beautiful....all my clothes are practically ready to go a week early. i pretty much have nothing to worry about now except enjoy time with friends before i leave. it's really nice. no stress. all goodness. rob is going to miss meeeeeeee...
ah! i was at his place last night watching Planet Earth (wicked) on caves and then i had bad dreams.
because in a cave they showed there's a sea, a seaaa of cocroches covering the cave floor. they live off of a continuous supply of guano 100m long, and deep. then they showed the guys at the end filming it. they were down there in the bat poop covered in the bugs for a month to get onnnnne shot. a couple seconds. that's dedication.
so then i had a dream about mr. cigs. he called me over to his place. his mom was busy there at their new house with renos and a whole bunch of men were going in and out, the floors were covered in a fine dust. when i came near cigs, he turned into a cocroche!!! he was near a vase of flowers, and when i tried to pick him up, which i didn't want to do because he was a gross bug, and which he kept making hard because he kept scuttling away, (i was getting really upset he wasn't cooperating before his mom saw him and squashed him dead), he BIT me! it was horrible. blah.
i didn't sleep well last night. i wish i could've dreamt about nice things about the caves. like this one that the guys lived in for ten days to get a couple shots, but it is the most beautiful and delicate cave known to the world. they needed 2 years to get approval to film there and then after the government said no one was allowed to film again. they had to repell down into the cave for 9hrs before they got to base camp and then walk through caverns, sometimes through bonecrushing crawl spaces. if you get stuck they have to break your collar bone to get you free. if you break an ankle, they said the last guy who did it took 100 specialists and three days to rescue him.
so if you want to talk about one of the least seen places on earth by humans, this is it. all to get to what they call the chandelier ballroom. the cavern is covered in crystals of all colours and forms, the most impressive of which are 6m long and millions of years old. wow. now why couldn't i dream about that part?!
if you haven't seen the BBC Planet Earth series...you SHOULD. it's the best geographic documentary to date.
