Half Nelson. Ryan Gosling. Good movie. Especially with the use of Broken Social Scene throughout...
A lovely quote I picked up from it. Speaks to me. Thought, as always, I would share. I love to ponder spirals, so:
"Change moves in spirals, not circles.
For example, the sun comes up...and then it goes down.
But every time that happens, what do you get?
You get a new day....
You get a new morning.
When you breathe,
You inhale...
And you exhale...
But everytime you do that, you're a little bit different from the time before.
We're always changing, and it's important to know
That there are some changes you can't control, but there are others
You can."
My Poem (contemplating change, pi and life in general, blood's already seen this, but modified since):
"A world encased in spirals
cycles over and over again
the same wars, hates,
deaths, mistakes
births, loves,
joys, lives...
and you wage the same wars
your ancestors fought in,
will you die for a cause
that will be forgotten? ...
the same things happening
in a duplicate way
far from this universal path
human beings, they never stray
seeking the same answers
we might never find
press fast forward,
turn to rewind,
search for the point
at which it stops
but can't escape
because we're all caught
In spirals.
Thus, there are never
any ends,
only new beginnings,
again and again
again and again...."
I'm half New Zealander. They have a symbol, we shall call it that I spose, called a "Coru" (represents the unfurling fiddlehead, a baby fern) It is a spiral. It stands for constant change and new beginnings. My mom gave me, when they came back from NZ last year, a necklace with the Coru on it. For new beginnings. I'd just barely held on for the two months they were gone, living at home alone, after having experienced my lowest of lows.
My next tattoo, which shall be this summer, will be of a fern working with the curve of my hip. Gentle solid outline, nice, realistic shading. An unfurling curl at the tip. Opposite hip of the side with my poem. It will be beautiful. The New Zealand silver fern. Because I made it and I'm making a fresh new start...
I have skipped class once again, but I'm not enrolled in those classes, technically, anyhow. I'd rather sit and write, putter around reading and thinking. I like my own little world. It's cushy. And deep. I'm comfortable here.
Therapy tonight, dreading what new things (not new things at all) we shall cover... I want to see Blades of Glory after. For cheer ups!
Haven't seen Nihly's "Shoes"? you should!
PS: Open that window and let that fucking sun shine THROUGH!
