Was the same way with me having to rearrange my attic for some work on the underside of the roof. I had just dumped old bills, receipts, and assorted paperwork into paper bags and stored them up there. Finally have gone through most of it and sorted or shredded, as necessary. Found things from when my ex-fiance and I were together, loads of overdraft charges from when I (we) sucked at managing money, etc... It's been interesting.
