After Glow


As the sunlight kisses
Your glistening skin
While the whimsical
Wind dries the air

I watch you smile
As you struggle to awake
Your natural beauty
Keeps me awake

I moved a couch
Into the bedroom
To watch you sleep
In your full splendor

My heart holds time with the rhythm
Of a fast Tennessee Waltzs
In Anticipation of the moment
You will wake

How could I sleep?
Waiting to kiss you again
Still tasting the lemonade
From your sweet lips

You rise up to move about
With the beauty of a new born doe
Unsure of your footing
Yet confident and fearless

This soft summer morning
Was made for you
As I bask in the after glow
Of the greatest morning of my life
