About 13 years ago, I went with a couple friends over to Sleepy Hollow. I saw the Disney cartoon "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" when I was very young, and, despite being very squeamish as a lad, was enthralled by this ghost story. It was something I always kept with me, and loved that it was a local "legend," in a town not 40 minutes drive from my home.
Being dumb 20 year olds, we went at night. And then we snuck into the cemetery, because, like I said, we were kind of dumb. We walked around for a good long while, each of us at different times looking behind our backs. Eventually we all realized we were doing this, and all admitted we felt we were being followed. I'm sure it was the setting.
Eventually, we came across this gate:
We walked past and found Mr. Irving's final resting place. My friend then said "Washington Irving, if you're here with us, give us a sign." No sooner had he said those words that a horn in the distance went off.
COINCIDENCE?!
Well, yeah, probably.
Anyway, here's the creepiest thing I ever took a picture of:
Found in the woods in Maine. I was too chicken to actually look inside. I'm kinda glad for that.
Anyway, it's almost Halloween.
