Ah, the weekend was lovely (despite missing all of Lebowski Fest.)

Friday: impromptu dinner party, with lots of wine and roast chicken. Met some new friends (one of them an ichthyologist, who may be able to arrange a behind-the-scenes-at-the-Field-Museum tour, which I am incredibly excited about.) Liz Phair was invited but didn't show (thank god for small miracles - the house was/is something of a mess. And I'm not sure that I could've kept my mouth shut about what I see as Enormous Mistakes In Her Later Career - I'd had a bit to drink at that point. )

Saturday: going to see a friend's band play, going to the afterparty, generally having a fantastic time. Oh, and finding out that the Vandals are playing a show next week - I think I may have to go.

Today: sleeping late, leisurely day around the house with B., then going out to a hookah lounge where we ordered in Mexican food and drank yet more wine, played songs on the jukebox, fiddled with board games and tried such shisha combinations as caramel and hazelnut, caramel and cardamom, rose and honey, Jamaican rum, and apple, all in the company of good friends. It was a lovely night.
