Funny night...
I had this show with my band at my old college and for some reason I had this weird feeling that things were not going to be right... as I suspected the first thing happens... after loading up the truck with my brother... we start heading down the street and I glance back to see the trunk of the car... well something is missing the blanket that was covering all of our equipment has suddenly flown out of the truck and into the street. So my brother and I make a quick u-turn to backtrace our steps and get all the way back from were we started and realize the damn blanket is only in the bed of the truck.
So then we get onto the freeway an zone out a bit on some music, Bright Eyes new live album...and a few demo takes of three new songs we were going to try that night... the drive goes by fast... kind of scarry when i look back on it... have you ever driven all the way home before (even if you were completely sober but just really tired) and realized that you had no idea how you ended up where you did...like some kind of lucid daydream....(the story of my life) haha
well anyhow... we show up at the art school and set up for the show... I tuned both of my guitars for the night wait for the rest of the band to get ready...
our set begins and as it is led into the first notes by our rythmn guitarist something sounds strange...kinda of like the feeling i had earlier... kinda like my stomach today after drinkin too much coffee...queezy that would b it.... well the song is in the wrong key, or between keys for that matter...it just sounds wierd....so I hint that somethins wrong and start playin in the right key...well i hope so, cause now i am confused (even if I wrote the song...lol) Luckly my drummer is in the zone and he eases off the progreesion of the song an lets us build it up again and so it moves on...
The overall show went ok... it was weird playing at ground level without a stage lift and with a basic PA system.... it felt more like a rehearsal than a show... but all the well fun and another experience...
so its cinco de mayo..woo hooo ... well i guess im gonna get drunk... not much different than any other friday...
