Despite the failure of the weather to cooperate with our plans, and despite the failure of three separate Joshes to show up, I'd say we had a pretty good time yesterday. Thanks be to all the folks from Boston who made the trek out to the home of Bill Cosby in Fascinating & Mysterious Western Massachusetts. Furthermore, I am happy to report that not one...

Hey, I was looking through you pics and saw the one with the family wearing fuzzy "body" suits. What in the world is going on and where did you get that picture? surreal <-- I know you don't like smilies, but this one is entirely appropriate.

glens falls is a small city (a wee bit smaller and cooler, but similar to lowell, ma) near lake george. about an hour north of albany.

where did you go to school in racha? my younger sister is graduating from Nazareth this coming spring, and friends of mine went to geneseo and RIT

So the Warped Tour blew through my town the other day. The venue was quite literally across the street from my house. I waffled back and forth about going, but in the end I stayed home.

Here's why:
-It was $30
-I don't like people, especially kids.
-I don't like the crap kids listen to
-No readmittance meant I would have to pay $16.50 for...

Do you have any idea what this says?

That's cool. The Legend of Zelda taught be that if you blow up old guys' doors with bombs, sometimes they make you pay for repairs.

That sounds really familiar but I can't remember which it's from. It also made me think of Link's Awakening, and how it's possible to steal from one of the shops. However the next time you go in, the guy behind the counter zaps you with mega huge lightning bolts and you die.

The red hair dye deal isn't just you. My girlfriend has been dying her hair red for years and in her experience she has found that there is no product, either professional or home-use that doesn't fade after a handful of days. It's a very high maintenance do.

I don't mind it fading, I'm just surprised it's fading, considering the last time I dyed it this exact color, I don't remember it fading like this. Oh well, just one more reason to do purple! biggrin

OK so I have my house back for a few days. I thought I was going to write a long piece about the state of affairs, but I don't feel like it. Suffice it to say, things have been surreal lately.

Some highlights:
-We got pulled over for having a tail light out the other night. I didn't have my liscense on me, but the...

> If you'd rather get them ahead of time to be sure, that's cool with me. I can charge them if you like, but what kind of seats do you want to get and how many? My friend is going to Saratoga that weekend, so it'll just be Sarah & I.

I'm still waiting to here from a friend of mine if he and his girl want to go. I'll twist his arm tonight and then we can make some solid plans.

... and , btw, got the directions. Thanks!

The new ink is really awesome.

And EWEWEWEW yes it was a cicada. *shudder* I really hate bugs. Can you tell?

I've forgotten how I learned about the word "victuals," but it may or may not have something to do with the use of "vittles" in the Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for game boy. I could be wrong.

Palindromes kick ass for sure...My all time favorite live album is a palindrome--Frampton Comes Alive...Not really, it's Black Sabbath Live Evil...I had never made a Peter Frampton reference and it felt like the right time to do so...

Sept 2 is noted, sir...

>Cool, I'll send you an email with directions and what not.

If you sent the email, I never got it.

>Yeah, let me call my friend and see if he wants to go. Do you think we need to get tickets ahead of time?

I have no idea if these games sell out or not. I had just assumed we would get them ahead of time, but I guess we could just get them at the game.

Back to work. No end in sight... I don't want to spend the remainder of my summer like this.

Thank you

> I just sent you an invite detailing the outing. It's not quite as crazy as I described it to be, but it is pertty cool.

How could we say no to such wanton contempt for the law and such callous disregard for personal safety? The answer is, quite clearly, that we can't. Sounds like fun.

> And we would be up for a soccer game on the 27th. I might have a friend who'd like ot come too.

How do you want to handle the tix. I could get them and we'll sort things out later. Let me know if your friend wants to go for sure.

BTW, I met this totally kickass Japanese girl at that conference last week. She's a grad student in Japan and she's trying to shake up the system and become a professor. I'm sure you can appreciate how against the grain that is for a Japanese woman. She is actually going to visit our lab for a couple of months early next year. I'll have to introduce you.

While we are on the subject, let me tap your knowledge of Japan. I've heard this before, but what do the suffixes -chan and -san mean when following someone's name? I saw it written out for the first time in a email with some of our Japanese colleagues and it occured to me that I really didn't know what it means or what the difference was.

I think I will work saturdays, but really I only work 20 hours a week, so my schedule is still pretty free...Turns out, selling over-priced handbags to Hingham soccer moms is not that time-consuming...
joshxxx:
I don't think I'm ever going to send something through UPS again. From what I've seen, every package gets beat to hell. Someone asked about it on the tour and was told that it's up to the person sending it to properly pad and insulate.

You said..."How long has your league been together? How many teams do you have? Is there a website?"

I say... Since last febuary I think, I just joined a month ago. No teams yet. We dont want to split off until we're really well practiced and can put on a real good show. There is a website, but it needs ALOT of work.... www.pennjerseyshedevils.blogspot.com

I know, and I thank you for paying attention to little old me.

I probably shouldn't be surfing a porn site at this conference (but there is free wireless, so what the heck), but we are in the middle of nowhere (a tiny boarding school somewhere near Plymouth, NH) and I'm bored out of my mind. The evening social activity tonight is karaoke and I'm staying as far away from that shit as I can. Academics can be fun to hang out with if you find the right people, but most of them are boring, And they drink like fish, which is not my thing at all. Boring + drunk = annoying. Only two more days of this ...

OK, so my father and I are putting a new electircal service on one of the houses. He has been here all week and there's no end in sight. I am going positively out of my mind. If any of you guys hear about a mass killing spree in the otherwise peaceful Pioneer Valley, that'd be me.

Thank you

P.S. I'm going to have to...

Here are two things that happened:

1. I picked out all the marshmallow bits from my Limited Edition Star Wars cereal because they had gone stale in my 10 day absence.

2. I stuck my hand in the garbage disposal to unclog and restart it. After I pulled my hand out and went to test it, I discovered that it had been on all along....

Ha, my bad. No, we haven't made it to that yet. Too busy. We'll make it eventually though.

I'll look into a Revolution game and get back to you.

Yeah, and ever since then, it's been a huge debate where he lived...I've heard Weymouth or Quincy, but I've always assumed it was Squantum...At least that's where one of his band's were from...The "C St Sluts," C St = Cedar St in Squantum...He's buried in NH, I think...

I've never met any sluts in Squantum, just yuppies...

OK, so here I am back and rested from a long week spent traversing the East coast. As you have undoubtedly heard on the evening news, my girlfriend and I went to Tampa, Florida to celebrate her paternal grandparents' 65th wedding anniversary. As such, the entire collection of in-laws was in attendance. As such-er, every waking moment (and there were too many of them for...

You, my friend, are the Matisse of photoshop.

Sorry to hear about the burn you got in FL. When I did my little stint in Ft Lauderdale, the first lesson I learned the hard way is that my pale Irish ass needs SPF 200. Squeeze the bottle and a sweater comes out. Lesson two was that no matter how big a Sox fan you are, multiply it by fifty when you go to Florida because every other person is a Yankee fan who will eventually call you on being a Sox fan. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by a bar full of them during the world series... It was great to see how quiet the people who were trash talking the first three games got during that comeback.

In any case, a South Shore tour is sounding pretty rad... We'll paint the town red and it will rule... I'm guessing... I have no clue what there is to do around there. Ok, I'm done rambling. Welcome back.
