Man, today I saw the coolest thing at the landfill!

Now I had been to the town's dump a million times before, but I had never actually been IN the landfill. Usually, you just pull up into the entry area and drop off your trash and recycling. Today I had a bunch of leaves and unlike most of the time when they tell me to throw them in the brush area, today they asked that I take them to the "pit".

I had to drive all the way around the massive mound of trash on questionable dirt roads to the back where they pile brush and leaves into a massive compost heap. Afterwards I kept going around thinking that it would circle back to the beginning. (It didn't) At one point I passed an enormous heap of sparking goodness. I couldn't figure out what it was but since I had to turn around and come back, I stopped to investigate.

It turned out to be a deliciously inviting mountain 40 feet high and 100 feet wide of ground up glass. When I walked over to look at it, I could see the individual bits of multi colored former bottles. Green, blue, brown, clear and even some red all calling out "touch me, climb on me". I kicked some, not quite daring to hike to the top of the twinkling death trap. (for fear of being caught, not the inherent cut-you-up risk)

I'll have to get a picture next time. I wonder what the purpose of that is? We recycle all of our glass so I can't quite figure out why it would be smashed up and piled like that. Maybe it's like a glass purgatory before it gets melted down.

Thank you

P.S. I cried like a little girl when they handed out the rings today. What happened to Tessie though?

I think it was in east weymouth...do you know where alpha pizza is? it's about a mile down the street from alpha, which is also very good...whenever I get homesick, I talk about pizza incessantly...is it obvious?

nothing happens to you on the T because you look like you could kick a hobos ass...I unfortunetly look like the clueless blond girl that I am, which leads to almost daily harassment...

I'm very anxious to see pics of your pile of glass...

>It will be at the Middle East

Cool! I've been to the Middle East several times. Its where I caught that infamous Hepcat/Scofflaws show. I'll be staying with my friend who lives in Somerville so it's only about a 30 walk over there. There's a good chance I'll make it then.

>Ha ha! Don't sell yourself short. Even if I don't know one cell from another, it's still pretty fascinating.

I'm glad you think so! Honestly. I've lived with it for so long that I can't think of anything *less* interesting than my thesis. Haha!

Edited because I can't spell to save my life.
