did you stop by hingham on your tour of the south shore? They have a new golf course...

Where did you eat while you were home?
alyk:
I went to toscas last month when I was on spring break...I talked to my father in law last night and he said they had just gotten back from there...so if your brother ever complains about a drunk guy who looks like ted kennedy, that is my father in law...but I guess every guy on the south shore is drunk and looks like ted kennedy...

Do you ever go to Darcy's Pub in Quincy? If you haven't, you should...my favorite pizza on the south shore...

Going to visit my Mom in the Boston area for a couple days...

Thank you

Ok, so I'll be in Boston May 12-19 for sure. I'll try to make it to the Slackers show, but no guarantees. Where is it at?

My thesis? Get ready for a snoozefest. The full title:

The Roles of Mechanical Conditioning in the Development of a Bioartificial Artery

... I warned you. Hahaha! The short version is ... I pull on pieces of biopolmer goo + cells and see what happens. Thrilling, I know.

And in all seriousness, yes, you could definitely trump that thread. Not much compares to that. Glad your better.

Have fun in Boston this weekend!

I could totally win that thread if I wanted to. I'm too mature though.

Anyway, yesterday I was raking leaves and some nosy old bitty was watching me from across the street. At one point she appeared to be talking to me so I took my headphones off in time to hear her say "I'm glad you're raking those." I replied "I'm sorry?" and she...

Ah, passive-aggressive old people ... what are you gonna to do?

I'll be out in May for about a week (12-19ish) to look for an apartment and get the ball rolling at the new job. Depending on how the apartment search goes, I'll be out there permanently in June or July. What are the dates of those shows?

What thread could you have won?
artrob:
what er ya doin?...I think your number got bumped out of my phone because I didn't save it, duh. I purchased a battery for the red dot... wink

Two of my "favorites" have been removed from my list (without my consent!). I hope that doesn't hurt.

Thank you
alyk:
Did they remove themselves from your favorite list?

The words "massive firing of tenured curators" makes me shiver for some reason...I have so much to look forward to in my career...
escher:
hey there.. so yeah.. i noticed after posting that they have the link to add pics & what not to the thread... i just started posting here after being a member since the beginning of time it seems... i'm still a tool when i comes to computers & such....

as for quincy i'm living in west quincy now... i bought a house a little over a year ago on f.b. parkway... i was living on hancock st for about 3 years before that... took at look at your pics... you'd get along just fine with my personal tattoo artist... the kids got more collectible toys than god himself... not that i belive in god or know that he/she collects toys but you know what i mean

That "redneck neighbors" thread reminds me of my own disgusting versions. I called the Board of Health last week to report them for dumping motor oil all over their yard. I don't want to be 'That Guy', but they have always left all manner of junk and trash on the side of the yard that faces my house and this toxic violation just pushed it...

I am so fascinated with conservation/restoration...The time & effort that goes into it is completely bananas...

You seem to have had such a great experience working at MFA, do you think you will ever go back to working at museums?
artrob:
no worries...you show great promise, grasshopper...

Here we go! 45 minutes to game time. I have the silly pre-game show on as I make dinner and do laundry. It kind of sucks that it's on ESPN. I hate when it's not on NESN. That's New England Sports Network for those unfamiliar with it.

I try not to pay too much attention to the sports writers and TV guys. They blow things...

All these deaths have me really bamboozled. Mitch Hedberg and Bass Wolf were just about the same age and both died at about the same time. Both passings are reported as being from "natural causes", but most people assume they were drug related.

38 is too young. I have always been drug/alcohol free so it's a little hard for me to understand how one gets...

I'm from Hingham/Quincy...the south shore...I attended umass amherst...

MFA is #1 on my list of internship possibilities...what did you do there?
alyk:
I went to umass right after high school, 96-97...I'm going back for grad school...the midwest is kind of a bummer...

I love, love to hear stories about MFA's backroom...whenever you have any, feel absolutely free to fill my journal up with them... wink

The people next door have a beagle that they just let out the front door for hours at a time. Today it was tearing up the trash so I had to go tell the guy to get his damn dog.

I'm going to rant a little about dogs. I like dogs just fine, but I find myself getting pissed off at dog people. No, not...

Can you email me and send me your email address? I can forward the file of what they sent me. It could say F off for all I know. Ha-Ha!

Ha! That makes me think of that terrible SNL sketch with Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon. It was called "Dog Show". Painful to watch, but I kind of think that was the point ... people who are waaaay too into their dogs.

So today at 3 AM I had to go let the girl upstairs in to her apartment because her brother had taken her keys. I found out that said brother is addicted to some serious drugs and has been in and out of polite society numerous times in the last few years. He has also been hanging around a lot lately.

It occured to me...

how many properties do you own?
artrob:
What about remodeling your properties to a level of sophistication that would attract a better clientele...I have a ton of ideas and resources in this area...I'm going to impliment some this year if things go well. wink

Less than 2 weeks until opening day! I can't believe how jazzed I am by this. I was so opposed to professional sports when I was an angry teenager. Now I cry little a little girl when I see highlights from last year's World Series. I still get all anxious and excited watching games that already happened.

What a dork.

Thank you
the_gentleman:
I'm equally as excited. However, I think I'm going to be dissapointed again...Last year was the best line-up the Astros have seen in a long time. We lost some key players, and some of our good players are getting old. Pitching, as far as I can tell, isn't any stronger...So I'm excited, with my doubts to maintain the balance.

My girlfriend and I went to visit some friends for dinner last night and boy, was their apartment hot! Not only was I secretly flipping out over how much it must have cost to maintain that level of heatitude, but I was sweating like a pig because I had dressed for cold weather. I don't get why anyone would want to keep it that warm,...

Hey, I just went back and found your diatribe on Northhampton. Reminds me of Ann Arbor (where I went to college) in a lot of ways. A place that really doesn't exist for any other reason than people it attracts. We always used to joke that it was a one mile circle of fantasy land in the middle of reality, since the surrounding areas are working class communities and farms. I had a love/hate relationship with it as well. I did enjoy my time there, but I'm not sure I would want to live there if I wasn't going to school.

I remember what I was going to ask you ... what takes you Japan on regular basis? I've always wanted to visit since it seems like such a fascinating place. Someday I suppose.

The letter I should have sent to a former friend of mine:

Throwing your trash on the ground, out your car window etc. is in the same category of evil as Nazis and rapists.

Why? Because it is a level of selfishness that goes way above and beyond the normal human range. You are so completely unconcerned about anything but your own desire not to...

> I joined some groups so I'd feel less compelled to argue with the regulars on the main boards.

I know what you mean. It's rather futile.

> What position did/do you play? She was a keeper.

My prefered position is midfield, but I can/do play anywhere (except keeper). I guess midfield lends itself to that though. Much respect to keepers though. I tried playing keeper for a while when I was younger, but I was never any good at it. It didn't help that I'm not exactly tall.

> What'll you be doing? @BU

Science stuff. Making artificial arteries. Its kind of my thing. I'm excited about it and about moving back to Boston. I use "back" loosely since I only lived there for a short time a bunch of years ago (around the time of that Hepcat/Scofflaws show).

So what keeps you busy way out in Northhampton. That's halfway across the state, isn't it? But I guess halfway across MA isn't exactly like halfway across MI or MN.
