Taxes!! 
Well, I mailed off my taxes today. I'm single (and never been married), I have no children, I rent an apartment, and I work full time in a professional job. My paycheck gets taxed to death every week, but yet I still owe at the end of it all. It's almost as if I'm literally paying for my lifestyle in that I don't have all of these magical deductions that the home-owning, children-bearing, and married people have (or any combination thereof). It just seems kind of unfair in a way. Am I getting penalized for not fitting into society's neat little categories?
