I have just read an interesting Blog entry on Flux page. It really made me stop and think about a few things about sexuality, inequalities between men and woman and pornography, seriously a really interesting entry.

There were different rules for me and my sister, that is just how my siblings and I were raised, I would never have said I was encouraged not to have sex early in life, but it would not have been a problem if I did (I started very late in life I would love to say I was not interested, I just was not interesting) but these same rules did not apply to my sister. It is strange that there is such a high regard for female purity and the same is not true for men. I would hope that I have learned from how I grew up and I can try and not be gender bias in my own family.

The only reason I notice it now, is Jo-Anne works 10 times harder than me, and she earns way less for doing way more work, and it is not fair, I am not saying I earn to much, I feel I am rewarded for the work I do and get paid according to my worth, if we lived in a completely gender blind environment, Jo-Anne should be getting way more than she is.

And the strange thing we don't notice these inequalities from day to day, we all notice the inequalities in Afghanistan but not in our relatively forward thinking environment. Would I really want my daughters (if I have any) to be treated the same as my mother, wife or sisters were treated.

Just a few thoughts that were inspired by Flux's blog entry.
