Uhmm so yeah hmm
While I was travelling to Russia on the big metal plane that somehow floats through the air. I needed something to distract me so I picked up a book while I was in Manchester Airport. The book was Eragon. I had heard about the film and people I knew had watched it and said it was cool so I thought meh yeah what the hey might as well. I finished it while I was in Russia and brought the sequel Eldest when I got back to England. I finished Eldest during the 14 hours it took me to get home from Manchester to the Isle of Man. The 3rd in the trilogy is still being wrote but should be out soon. So I decided now I have read the book I should watch the film. I grabbed a torrent of it. It was in 90% when I got home from work a hour ago. I thought yeah might watch a bit.
I watched 20 minutes max. It's really really well done. It does reek of a LOTR rip off with legends being foretold and a land under oppression etc. But most fantasy films and books rip off LOTR to a degree anyway. The first time you see the little Dragon I challenge any of you not to go awww. It's so fucking cute

I heard the movie was nothing at all like the book. I enjoyed reading them with my son a couple years ago. He'll be excited to hear the third one is coming out. Of course, right now he's all about the final Harry Potter book coming out. Pity it won't be out in time for his birthday in May. I'll have to find something else for him as a giftie.
