Okay not sure what to write so I will talk about chess and describe my latest game with Kenn.
I was taught to play chess by my Uncle Alan I was 6.I played for my primary school. I was in the top 5 of the chess"ladder" during this time. I played in matches against other schools and in 1 big chess tournament before I was 10. It was during this tournament that I played a "circle" game against Nigel Short along with I think 9 others (he beat us all easily ;-)). I stopped playing for a while when I went to secondary school because Lathom didn't have a chess club and I had long since pissed of my uncle by asking him to play so often:-). I then moved to the Isle of Man and found that the Grammar school had a chess room and people would play every dinner time. Needless to say I spent virtually every dinner time in the chess room or in the library reading. During this time I would often have games against "Cliff" which were always fun and enjoyable if occasionally we both bent the rules a little.
So the onto the match with Kenn ( Why are you still reading this?)
The game started ordinarily enough the only difference being we have on the Queen of the Dammed Soundtrack instead of Kenn's usual relaxing music so it subconsciously encouraged a faster paced game. I made the first mistake by potentially allowing Kenn to threaten a Bishop and Horse simply by moving a Pawn forward (He didn't notice it). I made the first offensive move by taking a pawn in front of his king that would allow me to check his king then allowing me to take one of his Castle's however Kenn was defending himself with a very well placed bishop. We both sacrificed our Queens at this stage in a I take you you take me move. Kenn saw a chance to take one of my Pawn with his defending Bishop. Unfortunately for Kenn I was guarding the pawn with a Castle and took his defending Bishop and throwing him off guard. I then went on to threaten and systematically take every piece with either my bishops or castle. I lost a Castle, Horse and Bishop mostly moping up the rest of Kenn's force. To end the game I got a Pawn over to Kenn's side and promoted it to my Queen and Checkmate followed 5 moves after. In total the game took about 75 minutes and Kenn was left with only his King left.
We will most likely play again next week and I will try and bring a rock soundtrack again to throw Kenn off balance
