This morning I met with a GP about my anxiety and depression issues. That in itself was a difficult thing for me to do and obviously made me very anxious. He was really nice and also funny, which helped. I am starting a course of medication from tomorrow, which will be reviewed in two weeks time. I'm not allowed to drink and I'm not recommended to drive during this period.

I went because I've been having time off work because I just can't face it. Normally I kind of power through but I've been so anxious and depressed recently it has been interfering with everyday life. So, we try meds and go from there. I'm hoping this will help just even me out some.

In addition to that I have a trapped nerve which is making my right shoulder, chest, back and neck all extremely painful. I normally try to power through painful things too but this time I've opted for codeine. I spent a very pleasant evening buzzed on codeine and wine the other evening and realised how much pain I'm normally in at a base level, through various aches & problems, once it was gone. It was quite a shock to realise most of my days are spent with some amount of pain somewhere and the relief of having it absent was palpable.

In other news I, perhaps foolishly, decided to invest in one of these:

For those unfamiliar, it's a Lytro light field camera. It works in a very different way to normal cameras in that it senses the light rays coming in to the lens, and because each ray is calculated as a vector, it allows you to do some pretty interesting things, such as change the perspective slightly, or focus the photo after you've taken it. It generates a depth map of the scene in front of it, (which you can edit,) so you can change focus between various objects covering foreground, mid-ground and background.

It's pretty cool, although I haven't had much chance to play with it so far. The one downside is that the resolution is only 2450x1634 - far too small for serious work, but it will allow me to offer some really interesting "living pictures" in my wedding and portrait photography and create some dazzling slideshows.

Speaking of wedding photography, I shot my first gay wedding recently, in one of the most amazing venues - Corpus Christi college in Cambridge. Here's some images from the day:

Finally, we're in the process of buying a house! WE put in an offer on another one a little while ago but it fell through after the seller took it off the market, but then we found another one, just around the corner, slightly bigger and for the same price. After thinking I would rent forever, this is scary but cool.

How's thing with you?

I felt so empty when I started my treatment for anxiety, it's almost weird when you're used to be overwhelmed with emotions and all of the sudden : it's gone ! I hope you'll be ok and that what you got will help you go through it.
