Amazing blog of birthday awesomeness!
The 17th was my birfday and Pinklet had something big planned. What, I had no idea, but I had been told that we would be going away overnight.
So the time comes around and I've had the time booked off for a couple of months. Sure enough, as always happens, I have a big project on at work which I've been working my ass off on but since no one understands what I do and since I've tried about 20 approaches to the problem, involving programming in PHP, Visual Basic and C# (I only really know PHP and not a massive amount of that,) importing and exporting between databases, using Excel and macros... anyway I managed to figure out a workaround that finally worked but not really a 'solution' per se but my boss is uncertain whether or not to let me take the holiday he signed off months ago. I prepare to tell him to fuck himself and walk out if necessary, but it doesn't come to that and on my last day he's not in which helps.
So we get a train to London and it's all exciting. I've accidentally seen the word Greenwich on an envelope, so I figure we might be going to the O2 arena... chances are it's a band or comedian, but I don't like to spoil surprises (I never used to look for my xmas presents as a kid as I think it's cheating.).
We get to the hotel and it's nice, apart from having no hot water. Pinks can't hold on to her secret any longer and tells me that we're going to see the Mighty Boosh live.
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
AWESOME!
Suffice to say the gig was amazing - the O2 is a hell of a venue and the Boosh boys know how to put on a show.
Afterwards we wandered back to the hotel - still no hot water and the bar was closed, so we had to make our own fun.
Next day we took the tube into Camden for a walk around, then on to Covent Garden, then we spent the afternoon in the natural history museum looking at dinosaur fossils.
Ace day.
Today has been interesting - got up late, had a look at a server for a friend's website that I'm involved with, then went to get some vegetables. Went into the bank to complain about charges and came out with a new ISA and a loan to consolidate my debts, which should work out better.
Tonight is drinks with friends since I wasn't here to celebrate with them.
