Friday was a bit of a large one. I met The Duke in the apple before we moved on to the King Bill, where we had a couple more before being met by theknives, Kristoph, Zamuzel and Foundry and several others. The turning point for me was drinking a tequila kindly offered me by Kristoph's cousin. Anyway I had a great time, to the point where I had to leave to go to a works thing and I really didn't want to.
The works thing was pretty messy. I was already half cut by the time I got there, but then so was everyone else. More drinking, dancing like an ass and having a laugh ensued. On my staggery way home I got a text from S saying she'd asked her BF to marry her and he'd said yes! Apparently it wasn't a serious thing, so they're not officially engaged, but it looks like they might be at some point in the not too distant future. So chuffed for them. smile

Today I had a wander into town and bought this:

Which I have to say, even though it's awesome, hasn't grabbed me as much as the first album. Hopefully it'll get under my skin after a few listens. Also the cover looks scarily like Kristoph...

I also got this:

I read the first 6 books a while back but I've never owned any of them and I'd forgotten how good it is.

For some reason my phone has been twitchy - not sending texts even though I had full signal etc. Today it has pretty much stopped working. I can't send a text - I assume I can't receive either and I couldn't even call Orange to ask about it so I called from our land line.
So I go through the annoying menu system, "Press one if you're getting fucked off with being told to press buttons or press two if you'd like to shout at a customer service representative."
I always make sure I don't shout at people because I used to work in call centres myself for years and it's a bad enough job without people shouting at you, but the girl I spoke to was as dumb as a bag of hammers and I came pretty close.

Her: "So what's the problem?"
Me: "Well it doesn't seem to want to send texts or make calls. Sometimes it shows as connected to orange and other times it says no network, but in either case it doesn't work."
Her: "Hmm... Well our systems are down at the moment so I can't do any diagnostics with you at present."

WTF? Then WHY FUCKING ASK ME ABOUT THE PROBLEM IF YOU ALREADY KNEW THAT FUCKWIT? (I know she knew prior to speaking to her because she said they'd been down all day.) Surely that should have been the first thing you told me?

Her: "I can arrange a callback for you - it should be within the next 24 hours."
Me: "So basically I'm without a phone for the next day."
Her: "Well it might be a couple of hours but we've been arranging a lot of callbacks today."
Me: "Ok fine, can you arrange that then please?"
Her: "Ok, so I'll arrange for them to call you back on the number you gave me."
Me: "The number of the mobile I've just told you I have a problem with?"
Her: " Yeah."
Me: "Umm... I'm not really sure there's much point in calling me on my mobile when I probably won't be able to receive the call, do you?"
Her: "Erm... do you have another number?"

For fuck's sake. Anyway, just to round things off, my housemate who is also on orange, tells me she's been having similar problems for the last day or so. So now it sounds like it's a network issue. I'd assume they would know if there was a network issue, but the girl didn't tell me of any issues apart from the fact that their systems were down.
I think one of their managers will be getting a call later... mad

EDITED to add:
I think I need to change career. As much as I enjoy fixing computers... well sometimes anyway, it's just not creative enough. A few of you will have been bored by me regarding my on hiatus webcomic, or the two novels I'm writing, or my 3D graphics stuff or... well the list goes on. Anyway, I've been helping a few people out doing Photoshop work on their pics or creating banners for myspace etc, and I've been thinking it would be great to do this sort of thing for a living. I guess I might start looking into it.
Oh and I haven't smoked since Friday night. Go me.

thequestion:
Preacher is an interesting one, it's certainly Garth Ennis as his most Ennis as it where but in a strange way by the end of the series I was kind of routing for Starr, just because he was the most honest character out of the lot of them.
