I was ill on my birthday.
Not only that but I was at work, everything went wrong and I spent the whole day running around like a blue arsed fly trying to sort everything out and sitting in an office that was somehow colder than the fucking warehouse, despite having a heater on full blast.
I took yesterday off. I rang the head of retail guy, as he's in charge while the big boss man is off. This does not mean head of retail guy is my boss, despite him persistantly labouring under said delusion. Anyway, he gave me grief about taking a day off sick while things were going wrong. I very calmly explained that I had arranged for our 3rd party IT guys to sort things out and also to keep both myself and him informed at every juncture.
I wouldn't mind so much but that fucker took almost 2 weeks off when he got this cold/flu thing. I take one day and get grief. I came pretty close to just letting rip at him. As usual I'm glad, (but frustrated,) that I didn't. I will however, enjoy explaining to him in great sarcastic detail what a hypocritical piece of fried shit he is next time I see him.
I spent yesterday drinking tea, taking paracetamol, (pretty rare that I ever take tablets for anything,) and getting stoned, which seemed to help nicely. I got 4 calls from work, which is about average for a day off for me.
My friend S came over with some DVD's, (you know you've got a good friend when she brings clementines and comedy over when you're ill,) as she's still signed off work by the Doc, so we watched Ross Noble, (well, she fell asleep for most of it,) and then we watched Better Off Dead, which if you've never seen it is an underated 80's movie starring John Cusak. I watched The Descent the night before, which is by the director of Dog Soldiers and was pretty good - very gory and actually a little harrowing in places and I can't decide if I liked the way it ended or not.
Off on Friday through to the 27th. Can't wait.
Right, this post has taken a turn for the boring so I either have to jazz it up or finish it off...

JAZZ HANDS!!!

Hope your feeling better. I hate having to take days off when I'm actually sick, it's much better to go in and then take a well earned sick day when you're well enough to enjoy it.
