Well it's been a mixed week.
Downside: Work has been one thing after another. (If you're not of a techy persuasion or not interested in computers, scroll down to the next paragraph.) I'm still trying to set up a terminal server so that our finance dept can move out to our other site and I thought I'd cracked it today until I rang our Sage reseller to be told that it wouldn't run on the version of windows we have on that server. Great. There's a day's work setting it up wasted then. Now I'm sat waiting for another server to be brought here so I can set it all up again. Then I got a call from our other site to say that the software that allows us to upload stock files to the website had gone kerplooey. One quick reinstall and a registry hack later and we're back up.
On the upside: My boss isn't in today and I probably won't see him tomorrow and after that he's on holiday for 3 weeks! Yay! It'll be like a mini holiday for the rest of us.
Downside: My car is still having problems, not more than a couple of months after I shelled out over 500 quid to have things fixed. Last night a part of my exhaust fell off. Completely. I had to stop and pick it up and put it in the boot. It's also got an odd habit of losing power for a while and then it might come back later. I know nothing about cars so I have no fucking clue what's going on.
Upside: At least the exhaust fell off as I was leaving work and not on the motorway. Also my boss said work might give me a loan to pay for repais. Cool.
Downside: Because our website manager and I share the same birthday and he's already booked the day off, I can't have my birthday off as we can't be off at the same time.
Upside: I've got next Friday off instead, so I'll still get a long weekend and another friend has his birthday on the same day and he's booked a venue for this Saturday so me & my friends are going to that. Yay! Also I got 125 quid's worth of Tesco vouchers from a company I deal with at work, so I've bought petrol and cheese and booze and sat happily sipping at a Martini last night while chatting to Angel_Ree.
Right, the other server has just arrived. Back to work.
