Well after a week of unusually rampant social activity, I was rather looking forward to having a quiet night in and catching up on things, most notably sleep. Unfortunately my friend who I met on Saturday texted me to see if I wanted to go for a drink.
"My mate's band's playing at the Old Duke," she informed me. The Old Duke is a great little pub which has a lot of live music on, mnost often Jazz of some sort and it was the hub of the recent Jazz festival in Bristol.
Well, another night out wouldn't hurt, so being a sucker for a pretty face, (and being midly hopeful of being able to connect that pretty face with mine around the mouth area,) I decided to go out.

I went around to her house and picked her and her friend up and we walked into town. The street outside the pub was packed, (it's pedestrianised and there are around 6 or 7 pubs there, so everyone spills out on to the street like seeds from a halloween pumpkin,) so we went in to find the pub rather empty, but the band hadn't started yet.

We took our drinks outside and another friend of my friend showed up, (sorry, not comfortable using people's names on here yet, I'll call the first friend E,) who was really nice and who shared my enthusiasm for geekery and random swearing, so we got on well, particularly because she was willing to share her tobacco with a fellow addict.
E's other friend was nice too - A very pretty Norweigan girl, although her accent was barely noticable. strangely I ended up having more of a laugh with them than with E - she doesn't seem to get my sense of humour, which puts me off.

Anyway, I bumped into my housemate, who dissapeared after a while with the work buddies she was out with, only to reappear later and spend the rest of the evening with me, E and her two friends.
The band were pretty good and the beer flowed so a good evening was had by all.
We headed home together, and my housemate, (we will call her V,) said she had something to tell me later. I figured it concerned E and we were walking with her at the time so I just nodded.
At one point E and I were walking along with our arms draped around each other, and kind of half holding hands, so I was hopeful that V had spoken to E about me and maybe had some good news. (V is good like that, she'll try and find out if a girl likes me and then let me know etc.)

We got to a junction and went our seperate ways, so V spilled the beans - she had been talking to E, who apparently had a crush on a guy she'd met online - but not me. In fact my name didn't really come up, despite V's attempts to insert it into the conversation. Oh well, not the end of the world. E is very good looking, but there's not the connection there that I would need in order for it to become something.

So we headed home and ended up talking about relationships and sex, as we so often do and we got on to the subject of flirting, which V and I sometimes do. She said she was fine flirting with me when I was with my ex because it was safe, but she didn't flirt with me much when I'm single because it was more... dangerous.
So that lead to her admitting she has a thing for me, which I told her I'd known for a while. We both thought the idea of anything between us would be a little wierd (not just because we're housemates, but she's actually my landlady and I think that would be complicated at best,) and kind of left it at that.

So kind of a wierd but good evening. The girl I liked was very tactile, but apparently has a thing for someone else. I got on better in a way with her friends than her and my housemate/landlady admits she fancies me. All I need now is for some girl that I don't feel attracted to, to fall for me and I think I have completed the "wierd unrequited love situations" set. I'm hoping they'll bring out action figures...
