Time spent (notice I didn't say wasted): 3 years, 4 months
Saddest part about it: he really doesn't understand why one must communicate with their partner in order to have a relationship.
It was a learning experience, of course. I learned that I am really resilient and can take a lot of shit; I also learned that I need to stand by my dealbreakers, and take action (leave) when shit crosses the line.
I learned that when I call a partner on his shit, yet he consistently refuses to make changes while making promises that he will, then I'm the one who needs to make the change and remove myself from the situation, not wait and wait and wait and hope they improve and grow someday...
Older and wiser...but sad that I invested so much time and energy into a ship that was sinking the whole time. This is a lesson for me to not be so generous and patient? How lame.
Ah, such is life. I'll probably see you in the streets now that I have some time on my hands.
