Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman.
This movie was new to me, ive never even heard of it before I saw it. No known actors, unknown director. So thats a good start, no expectations and no context. I love this movie so much, it has everything, drag queens, samurai, gangsters (blushes), tap dancing! and good ole austere japanese morality. The story is about a blind swordsman who comes to the aid of a village under the control of the mafia. Through his blind wisdom, he teaches all that the blind man can see more than we often think he can. I knwo what your thinking, some martial arts movie for nerds, but NO, this movie rocks! And has a wonderful score with some nods to electronica, trip hop, and even the prop music group Stomp.
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Haha, this was pretty good. I thought it would be lame, you know some stoner flick, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I wanted to see it for the asians actors, especially the Korean one. There was some priceless moments in this flick and it really did have some funny perspectives on race and culture. Also it was an illuminating view into the secret bathroom habits of girls. haha battleshits
Quadrophenia
This classic mod flick makes you wanna take pills and fight. Talk about old school hipsters, lookin sharp and rollin about on scooters. This was a really good movie, I have always wanted to see it. Those skinny ass pasty british boys look so hot in those tight suits and thin ties.
Makes me want to shave of the dreads and get myself a scooter. Its a very funny and kinda sad movie, and poor Jimmy just cant catch a break. The most classic bit is when he explains to his pops how mods have to put on their pants when still wet because they are so tight, and it was classic cuz one of my friends used to do that all the time.
You can tell I have no life, just movies and weed.
