I didn't realize Burn Collector was well known, but I'm not surprised. It's pretty good stuff, in my opinion. There's a great bit in this one about how the brutal Chicago winter can turn depression into an operatically intense experience.
As to my sister, she's 23--I think the picture makes her look younger. Coolness runs in my family, by the way.

One time in college, I opened a can of Hormel chili and inside, on top, was a clump of eyebrow hair. Like, a chunk of skin and hair was lopped off by some spinning something-or-other and landed in the chili. I know this sounds like total bullshit, but I had three witnesses there who saw me open the can!!

I loved it because I let Gallo manipulate me. I identified with his character. As he interacts with Ricci's character, all his posturing does is reveal more to us about his troubled mind, his fears and his needs. Through his conversations with Ricci we come to understand his psychology. We finally come home with him and meet the family that produced him, and everything is laid plain, he's no longer a thug, he's a weak little boy.

It's an anatomy of attachment disorder written by a punk, a street performer, a man who doesn't have the vocabulary, so he improvises one. It's brilliant.

It changed me a bit. Maybe it helped cure me of any desire to be "dangerous" or "cool".

the pyromaniac was a wonderful little touch to the film, wasn't he? I love the part when he's painting and they ask him if it's better than playing with real fire and he hestiantly agrees "...yes." Fan-fucking-tastic.
