This weeks @bloghomework topic is probably one of my favourites! Same with this photo below! Oh my goodness the cuteness!
The topic was proposed happened to be if you could own your own business, what would it be! Thankfully, the question wasn't, if you were going to run a profitable business what would it be? I would love love love, to own and operate my very own animal shelter. More specially I would love to operate a safe haven for northern breed and wolf dog hybrids. I would like to focus on rehoming, rehabilitation, and training opportunities for new pet owners and long term companions.
I love the show, "Pit bulls and Paroles", I think it is such a great show because not only does it high light an awesome need for acceptance it shows how much time and effort it takes to run a shelter plus it debunks many myths about pit bulls. If I had my own shelter, I would certainly want to hire people who needed a second chance sort of speak like the animals we would be caring for!
You might ask yourself, why northern breeds? First off, I just so happen to be completely biased, and these breeds look so beautiful and majestic they can't help to inspire me. Secondly, Siberian huskies and other northern flood the shelters, especially in the area I'm from. So many people get these animals, and realize that they become too large, and hard to handle. Most northerns take a lot of dedicati0n from there personalities that need a stern leader, to their grooming needs, to their dire need for play and exercise. Many northerns in shelters end up being euthanized because they are mistaken for wolf dogs! Most people are afraid to take on such a dog, and most often these wolf dogs are simply being mislabeled.
As many of you know, I rescued my very own trouble maker, Rascal, who ended up at a shelter three times in one year some of the very simple reasons I've mentioned.
If I ever find my self the position to, this is something I would love to establish and I would jump at the chance to do so!
Now I just need a name!
I hope you enjoyed this blog assignment!
xoxo
