This set of frankly awesome pictures made me think of Boudicca, who, after her husband was killed by the Romans, was taken, with her two daughters, in chains, to the then capital of Roman Britain, Camelodunum (modern day Colchester), to the arena,in front of a baying crowd of Romans and Romano-Britons, stripped and whipped, and then forced to watch her daughters being raped, and was then thrown into prison. She was let out when the Romans no longer considered her a threat to them or their way of life. Unfortunately, Queen Boudicca had a good memory. She raised a huge army, marched on Camelodunum, killed everyone, men, women, and children, and burnt the city to the ground.  She made Asterix look like an amateur. She was described at the time as being of 'terrifying aspect' 'as tall as a man, with a harsh voice, and a mane of flowing red hair'. There is a life size model of her in Ipswich Museum, which had her about to throw a spear. The figure was hidden, so you would literally come round a corner, and be face to face with a six feet tall woman pointing a real spear at your face. The shock was too much for some people, and the wronged queen was moved.😘😘😘
