Yes magnesium is a wonderful element with an abundance of practical applications. It's also my mineral of the week. If you only read about one strong yet lightwieght metal this year make it magnesium. Great choice of tv shows, Sanctuary S3, Firefly, oh Lordy, I'm just going to stop now because it angries up the blood and makes me sad all at once. I will have to contradict your periodic element of choice though although magnesium has many practical applications, sulphor is my element of choice. It's medical applications are abundant and itis a reducing agent for most metals. Sulphor can be weaponized in its natural state, and because of its properties apply flint and voila, even Prometheus himself would forget his one true love and his quest for her heart.
