i'll let you know right now that immigration sucks! i have found that it is extremely difficult to work legally. as far as the UK goes, you of course must have a work permit. the catch is in order to obtain a work permit you have to fall into certain categories. your average person = me, doesn't fall into any of the categories, as i have been told by the british consule. i'm not sure about immigration laws for other countries, but this website was extremely helpful to me:

i didn't actually use their service , so i can't vouch for that part, but they do have quite a bit of useful infor on their site.
