There are reasons for friends.

Since last fall, when KC and I had nothing to do with our lives, which quickly welded into one, we entertained the idea of a cross-country baseball trip. The plan was great, take the train out to Fargo, pick up an old high school friend, then head off for an adventure.

Games we would see were in Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis. On our return journey, we'd go to Canada, stop in Toronto. Sight see. The normal touristy things to do. Strengthen the bonds of friendship.

As the time for this baseball trip has quickly come down on us, KC received a not so pleasant call from our old friend, Dylan. Seems as though D-town is in the possession of Paul McCartney tickets, two of them worth $120 each. One for him. And one for his girlfriend. He is quickly saving money for this trip from Fargo to the Twin Cities.

He is quoted as saying, "I guess that puts an end to the whole baseball trip, huh?"

Some friends are great.

When KC relayed this information to me, I seriously felt offended. A complete slap in my proverbial face.

The only positive that comes from this is that I'll roughly have 800 dollars left in my checking account by summer's end.

My computer tower is making a strange whirling noise. It has been doing so for the past couple days. I assume the fan is shot to shit and the motherboard will melt onto the desk.

Since when did ESPN cover professional eating contests?

Since when did eating become professional? And when did AlkaSeltzer sponsor them? Sometimes, I really, really hate the direction the humanity.

In other news, I've been a little more active in my search for new music. Not so much new genres, but artists I have not heard. I am in search of expanding the libraries of those of whom I have lost touch with. I'm mainly going for more "prog," more "instrumental," more "cerebral." Time to make purchases on amazon because God knows, this town I reside does not have one single independent music store.

One more day off. Then back to the salt mine. Rey and Derrick talked to me a little bit on Wednesday while the three of us were closing. The both made a few remarks on how well I've adapted to the fry side, how I've been pulling more than my own weight. Though at the time I just smiled, thanked them, and carried on the conversation, internally I felt well. Ah, words fail me now...and it is quite late.

Maybe this weekend I'll put the moves on Taryn and Cassie?

well, sometimes you have to expect that from friends that get pussy whipped. Paul McCartney tickets sounds pretty good though, so I could probably understand, but hey, if you're saving the money, good the fuck on ya.

oh well, I guess. sometimes sacrificing short term fun for long time comfort is part of being an adult. it's just a matter of finding that short-term fun to throw in the mix occasionally so you don't burn yourself completely out.
