I have realized something today; during High School, I was considered a dork and a loser and totally super un-hip for some reason. Dunno why. Looking around at the kids today I realized they are a)talking like we did, b)wearing the clothes we wore (ala thirft stores before they became chic) c)listening to the bands that everyone made fun of us for listening to like Manson, KMFDM, Costello and the Clash, One Fierce Beercoaster, At the Drive In, on and fucking on.
I then came to yet another realization. I wasnt uncool or unhip or a dork in high school, I was a fucking trendsetter. I was so goddamn good at it, I was doing it and it took years for their feeble skulls to catch up and become one with the world of hip.
Swoo.

During high school I was pretty much the same person I am today. It's made for an interesting experience. I'm glad to see, though, that you're enjoying popular culture catching up with your tastes.
Christmas went better than expected because nothing went wrong. It was the first time my sister had ever cooked a big meal and I was expecting her to blow up her kitchen; it was one of the best Christmas turkeys we've ever had. This was the first time that my brother's girlfriend's family had met my family, and they happened to bring along someone (my brother's girlfriend's brother's girlfriend) whom the majority of them didn't like, which I thought would cause for a contensious dinner; but everyone got along wonderfully, and there was much laughter at my witticisms, and my father got that someone (my brother's girlfriend's brother's girlfriend) really drunk and she was a riot after that. And there were other concerns that turned out to be completely unfounded. It was just a really good holiday celebration that made me very happy.
